Award for open source: Whitehouse.gov has switched to Drupal

Whitehouse.gov - the flagship among the sites of the U.S. government – is newly running on the free content management system Drupal. It is a huge success not only for Drupal, but for the whole open source community as well.

Drupal is not completely new to the U.S. government websites. However, up until now it has been used „only“ by some government offices and projects. Without a doubt, the decision to use an open source software expresses, both symbolically and practically, the official aim of the American government for openness, participation and financial economizing. For Drupal and for open source systems generally, it is, above all, a demonstration of security and credibility.

Invitation: If you want to find out more about Drupal, don't miss the DrupalCamp Prague '09, this weekend – October 31st to November 1st (admission free, registration at www.drupalcamp.cz).
